Programs in Action
As part of the Mutt Club at Middle Country Public Library, children in 2nd to 5th grade created no-sew pet blankets to donate to a local shelter. The Mutt Club provides real-life experiences and community connections through programs based on humane education with a focus on Mutt-i-grees. Middle Country Public Library is the national pilot site for Mutt-i-grees in the Library.
Families meet therapy dogs and their handlers at Middle Country Public Library (Centereach, NY) during a Mutt-i-grees® program, “With a Little Help from Mutt-i-gree®.” Representatives from various agencies spoke to families about ways dogs serve their human companions. Counter to the stereotype of the silent library and the cranky librarian, ”Shhh!” was one phrase no one was saying at the National Mutt-i-grees in the Library launch on Wednesday, March 27.
