Donor Privacy Policy

The Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum and the Pet Savers Foundation (“Mutt-i-grees” or “we” or “us”), understands your concerns about privacy and your interest in knowing how your information is used and safeguarded when you make a donation to us, and we want to provide you with more information on these topics.  We have created this Donor Privacy Policy (the “Donor Policy”) in order to provide our donors with complete information related to our practices, policies and procedures in relation to all of the information that we collect from them. Please note that this Donor Policy applies all information collected both online – including from our website located at www.muttigrees.org (the “Website”) – and offline, from all venues and means, as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications. We may update this Donor Policy from time to time, so please check this Donor Policy periodically for changes. The date this Donor Policy was last updated is stated at the end of this document. If we make any substantive changes to this Donor Policy, we will use best efforts to contact you via the email address and/or postal address that you may have provided to us. If you have any questions about this Donor Policy, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

The Information We Collect From Donors: The only personal information that we collect from donors is the information that you voluntarily provide to us. For example, if you opt to make a donation by “clicking” the “donate” button on our Website, or if you donate to us via another website or venue with which we partner, we will collect (or such other website or venue will collect on our behalf) certain personally identifiable information, which may include your name, email address, postal address and payment information.  In regard to processing your donations – whether or not processed through a third-party payment processor – the payment information you provide to us will only be used to process your donation, and will not be stored or used for any other purpose.  Please note, that except as specified below under the heading “How We May Share your Information,” we do not sell, rent, share, trade or otherwise make available the names and personal information of our donors with any other organization or entity.  Additionally, we do not send emails to our donors on behalf of other organizations or entities.

How We May Share And Use Your Information: We may periodically exchange donor postal mailing lists with other organizations, who similarly provide us with their mailing lists.  Mailing list exchanges provides us with a cost effective way to potentially expand our donor base by obtaining the names and addresses of other likely donors.  We screen all such offers and strive to select trustworthy, reputable companies who offer high-quality products or services that we believe will be of interest to our donors.   Please note that each mailing list exchange or rental limits the recipient organization’s use to one promotional effort, and thereafter the names are discarded and not used again on behalf of such organization.   Although all mailing list exchanges are managed by a third-party vendor, at no time will such vendor have access to our donor names and addresses.  Please note that we do not exchange or rent email addresses. If you prefer that we do not exchange your name and postal address, please call (516) 883-7575 or send a written request to: The Pet Savers Foundation / Mutt-i-grees Curriculum 750 Port Washington Blvd Port Washington, NY 11050 Attn: Customer Service.  Also, please note that many direct mail fundraisers or companies routinely suppress any names and addresses on the Direct Marketing Association’s do not mail directory to honor all who have joined this list.  If you are interested in being added to the Direct Marketing Association’s do not mail directory, please contact the Direct Marketing Association, Inc. by writing to 1615 L Street, Washington, DC 20036 or calling 212-768-7277, ext. 1888.

We may also share donor postal mailing lists with companies who sell products or services through direct mail, and in conjunction with mission-related mailings, we may also mail our donors information related to our corporate partners.  Additionally, periodically donors may also be sent emails related to select corporate partnership programs.  For example, donors may be sent i) emails with information on select companies or products with whom we have “cause marketing” arrangements, and ii) emails announcing a sponsorship relationship, and iii) an email invitation to co-branded events between The Pet Savers Foundation or the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum and a corporate supporter. We do not provide donors’ names or contact information to such corporate sponsors or partners.

Changes to Our Donor Privacy Policy: We reserve the right to revise this Donor Policy at any time by updating this posting. Please check back regularly and to see if there have been any changes to this policy, which you can determine by reviewing the Effective Date listed below. If we make material changes to this Donor Policy, we will use our best efforts to notify you of such changes.  If you no longer wish to be considered a donor of Mutt-i-grees, you can email us at any time at [email protected] requesting that your name and contact information be removed from donor database; we will endeavor to comply with all such requests within a commercially reasonable timeframe.  By continuing to remain a donor after any such changes are made to this Donor Policy, you agree to be bound by the revised Donor Policy.

Web beacons also may be used to track whether you have opened an HTML email. When the email is opened, a part of the code that makes up the HTML page calls a web server to load the web beacon that then generates a record showing that the email has been viewed. Web beacons may also recognize when the email was opened, how many times it was forwarded and which URLs (links within the email) were clicked.
