The Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum National Student Ambassadors Program: 2014-2017 Archive

2016/17 National Mutt-i-grees® Student Ambassadors Year-End Update

When we introduced our 2016/17 National Mutt-i-grees® Student Ambassadors last fall, we dubbed them “Our Formidable Fourteen.” We’re happy to report that they lived up to their billing, and then some.

During the past year, this busy group addressed pet homelessness in ways both large and small. No matter what approach they took, their combined efforts advanced the Mutt-i-grees message in their communities and helped hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens find responsible, loving homes.

They range in age from 7 to 17. They hail from California, Connecticut, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, and Oklahoma. The group includes 11 young women and 3 young men. And when you do the math, they’ve already racked up a collective 30 years of volunteer service, mostly in animal welfare.

They’re clearly getting a head start on changing the world, and we happily welcome them to the ranks of our elite and accomplished Student Ambassadors. You’ll learn more about them and their MUTTS* Clubs in the coming months, but here are a few words of introduction. We’ve listed them in alphabetical order.

The 2015-16 Mutt-i-grees National Student Ambassadors

Selected from a group of students in some of the most effective Mutt-i-grees schools and clubs in the country, Mutt-i-grees National Student Ambassadors spend the academic year working on various animal welfare, humane education, and service learning projects of their choosing, with a goal to inspire other students and community members. While last year’s inaugural class of ambassadors set the bar high, we have no doubt that this year’s class will impress. Congratulations to these motivated young leaders – we can’t wait to see what you accomplish this year!

Mid-Year Update from Our National Student Ambassadors

In communities around the country, “Mutt-i-grees” is now part of the local vocabulary, thanks to the leadership of our Mutt-i-grees Curriculum National Student Ambassadors. Though separated by hundreds of miles, these teens share one overriding concern: the wellbeing of animals. Their enthusiasm for the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum — and their willingness to work hard to save lives and educate their peers — continues to inspire us.

This spring, we asked each ambassador to provide a mid-year report. Check out what they’ve been doing!

Mutt-i-grees Curriculum National Student Ambassadors Celebrate Read Across America Day

For loving and fun, all kids will agree,
There’s nothing as sweet as a sweet Mutt-i-gree!
A canine? A feline? Don’t bother to fuss —
They all need what we need — they’re really like us!

Clearly these lines are not up to Dr. Seuss’s imaginative standards, but chances are the man who wrote “The Cat in the Hat,” and  “The Lorax,” would happily applaud the word “Mutt-i-gree,” half whimsy, half serious message, and totally delightful to say.
