Mutt-i-grees Expands Around the Country
October proved to busy a busy month for the Mutt-i-grees Movement! The Mutt-i-grees Curriculum was represented at the Education Minnesota Conference in St. Paul on October 17, 2013. Byron Logan and Jim Messina spoke with hundreds of conference attendees, including teachers, administrators, and families. This was truly a community event since schools in Minnesota close for two days to allow school staff and families to attend. Those who stopped wanted to learn how they could help shelter pets and provide social and emotional learning lessons in the schools in their community. During their trip, Byron and Jim visited over 40 schools and shelters in an effort to expand the Curriculum and encourage community connections through the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum.
On October 20-22, 2013, Jayne Vitale and Kay Hammerson continued their Mutt-i-grees in the Library outreach as they spoke with over 600 librarians and library administrators at the New England Library Association Conference in Portland, ME. The attendees were excited to learn more about Mutt-i-grees and are looking forward to implementing Mutt-i-grees programming at their libraries in the future.
Mutt-i-grees in the Library will also be attending the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting on January 24-28, 2014.
