Moving with Mutt-i-grees

The Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum takes a whole child approach to education, including not only social and emotional development, but also cognitive development (see for example, the vocabulary and readings in each lesson) and physical development. The importance of physical well-being and fitness cannot be over-emphasized. In many of the lessons we show that regular exercise helps create a healthy, balanced dog. It’s also important for students, and the benefits of physical fitness extend beyond good health; studies show that providing students with daily opportunities to be active can increase their happiness and their productivity in school.

In this column we include fun ways to integrate movement in the classroom, featuring more “Mutt-i-gree® Moves of the Month.”

Yoga - Here we show a few starter yoga poses, showing not only kids, but dogs as well

Dance - Schools implementing the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum are integrating dance into the school day, some of them choreographing their own dance to songs about dogs.
