Meet Lady, a star pupil at Cesar Chavez Elementary School in Oklahoma City, OK
Lady spends her time co-teaching Mutt-i-grees lessons with second grade teacher Delois Byrd. Ms. Boyd teaches Mutt-i-grees once a week and she says her students love it. Learning about and helping animals has had a tremendous impact on her students, she says. “I think it has helped them see compassion in action…I like that [the Curriculum] encourages students to think about others and have compassion for all creatures.” Ms. Byrd has the support of the school’s administration and guidance counselor, who also uses the Curriculum in her lessons with various classes. “Staff members and administration look forward to visits from Lady,” says Ms. Byrd. “They like how my students are developing as caring individuals.”
