Mutt-i-grees Librarians Collaborate to Present at Regional Conference
Lessons and activities involving cooperation and collaboration are at the heart of Mutt-i-grees; the ability to work together toward a common goal is an essential 21st century skill. So when we were asked to co-present at the New York Library Association Youth Services Section Spring Conference with two librarians who are currently using Mutt-i-grees in the Library, we were more than happy to oblige! On Friday, March 27, 2015, our own Mutt-i-grees Librarian, Kay Hammerson, along with Sara Fade, Adult and Young Adult Librarian at Middle Country Public Library, and Julie DeLaney, Head of Community Relations at The Smithtown Special Library District, engaged librarians from Long Island with an informative presentation on how to incorporate Mutt-i-grees programming at public libraries. While Kay provided an overview of Mutt-i-grees, Sara and Julie offered tips on implementation based on experiences at their respective libraries. Since Julie and Sara work with different populations, participants received a well-rounded overview and lots of suggestions for ways to get started.
