New York City Teachers Attend Mutt-i-grees Training at Animal League America

On Thursday, May 22nd, 2014 a group of teachers from various boroughs of New York visited Animal League America to be trained in implementing the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum within their classrooms. Margaret Ficke has been using Mutt-i-grees with her 2nd grade class in Astoria, Queens. Her students have enjoyed using the Mutt-i-gree Puppet, who they have named “Cookie”. Gail Frydkowski, a high school teacher and Co-Chair of the Humane Education Committee for the United Federation of Teachers, was also in attendance. As a teacher who has worked to infuse humane education into her students’ preparation for the Regents Exams, she commented that, “I enjoyed learning how comprehensive the curriculum is and all the different ways students can get involved with projects. I also appreciated learning about all the different resources you have available!”
