Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum Attends Vision 2020
Through partnership with The Kirkpatrick Foundation, our Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum team were invited to be part of the “Safe and Humane: Empathy and compassion through interaction with animals” panel discussion along with the Oklahoma City Zoo and Keystone Adventure School and Farm. Louisa McCune-Elmore, Executive Director and Paulette Black, Program Officer of The Kirkpatrick Foundation were there to lead the way.
Safe and humane, empathy and compassion through interaction with animals – that is what we are all about. The interactive, hands-on learning session presented strategies for helping children understand, appreciate and practice principles of social-emotional learning through engagement with animals. Examples of effective programs were presented, including resources and sample activities. Participants completed activities that demonstrated how this approach can complement academic areas, help support anti-bullying efforts, strengthen responsible decision-making and build problem-solving skills.
The Kirkpatrick Foundation is a private family foundation located in Oklahoma City. Their heightened focus on animal concerns has initiated their new mission “Safe and Humane”, a program with a vision to make Oklahoma the safest and most humane place to be an animal by 2032. And, the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum is thrilled to be part of this mission.
