Educators and school counselors from NY, CT, NJ, PA, AR, TN, and WI participated in a two-day regional orientation conference on the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum on April 19-21, 2012. Mutt-i-grees® National Trainers Norma Meek and Deb Swink and Mutt-i-grees® Peer Trainers Jim Messina, Valerie Lawson, Natalie Horton, and Judy Clay presented sessions on implementing the Curriculum in PreK-kindergarten, elementary, and middle/high schools and the challenges and effective approaches to bringing a dog to class.
The Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum for Grades 7 & 8 is available to order. The binder includes posters and lessons for students in grades seven and eight, as well as a section on service learning and community outreach, called Mutt-i-grees® Club Activities.
We are excited to announce that Deborah Swink and Norma Meek, leaders and pioneers in launching the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum in their states, will be honored at the Lewyt Humane Awards Luncheon on June 13, 2012.
Educators from around the country joined Mutt-i-grees® Peer Trainers and a panel of junior high students at the School of the 21st Century National Conference in Little Rock, AR last week to learn more about the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum. The conference featured workshops on using Mutt-i-grees® in high school, junior high, and afterschool programs and how to use the Curriculum with a buddy system. The conference included a Mutt-i-grees® National Panel, where Mutt-i-grees® educators from around the country shared their experiences.
Mrs. Russo, a Mutt-i-grees® teacher in Florida, was recently highlighted in The Parent Issue of her school’s newsletter for her implementation of the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum.
